Reconstruction

The castle was not really damaged as a result of direct acts of war, but its equipment was stolen by Soviet soldiers and looters. In 1949 the fire broke out and completely destroyed two wings, servants rooms and the coachhouse.

Successive users (Forest Inspectorate in Bolesławiec and the Polish Peoples' Army) did not care about the object. Roofs were destroyed first, later the same happened to the walls, floors, wainscots, paintings, portals, stoves and to some of the most beautiful Silesian fireplaces. Officials Gallery and partially the Mange collapsed.

In the 70s the Technical University of Wrocław, the next user of the castle, made an attempt to save the palace, but in fact they did not do much until the end of the 90s, apart from securing the building.

The castle made a terrible impression with its collapsing walls and empty window openings. Only comprehensive construction-conservation works started by the company INTEGER S.A. (joint-stock company) from Wrocław. It purchased the estate in the 90s, restored the castle to life, gave it new functions and splendour.

In 1999 a decision was made to adapt the object for a conference-leisure centre. The first works were undertaken in March 2000, and in November 2001 the Castle started to serve its Guests.

The works were managed by Alina Zamorska and Ewa Hawryluk, interiors were arranged by Anna Morasiewicz, and the person responsible for reconstruction of the park was Anna Ornatek.

The renovated object had the cubature of ca. 40,000 m, and the roof surface was as big as 4,500 m. It was necessary to install connections for all the utilities, assemble new installations including telecommunication ones, reconstruct the park and plants on the courtyards, plant about 4,000 new trees. The basic objective of works, which took 1.5 years was to adapt the historic building to the new life and a new function.
